One-on-one manual transmission lessons across the Bay Area. Backed by 10+ years of experience paired with patient instruction to get you shifting comfortably.
With manuals accounting for less than 2.4% of new car sales, stick shift has become exclusive to enthusiasts who care about driving engagement and a purer car-body connection.
You're connected to your car. You feel when it needs, when it wants to shift. The unadulterated experience of rowing through gears down Highway 1 is unparalleled.
Rental cars in Europe. A friend's truck on moving day. The C6 you've been eyeing on BaT. Knowing manual unlocks the entire automotive world.
Every lesson is one-on-one. We can use your car or one of ours — Hyundai Veloster N, Honda Fit, or Volkswagen Jetta all with a forgiving clutch perfect for learning.
Never touched a clutch? We start in an empty lot. By the end you'll be getting into gear smoothly and shifting up to second.
The sweet spot. Get intimate with the bite point, comfortable on hills, and ready for real-world traffic.
Already driving but revving for more? We'll shift into rev matching, heel-toe, double clutch, and more.
Lessons available wherever you are — SF, Oakland, and across the Peninsula. Cash, Venmo, or Zelle.
I've been driving stick since I was sixteen and ever since then I have taught friends and anyone curious enough to try. I believe learning stick should be relaxing and fun- it's a lost art few have mastered, but I'd like to change that.
My approach to teaching is structured and purposeful. We'll talk about what the clutch does, why understanding gear ratios matters, and then jump right into the bite point. No frustration, just repetition at your pace until it clicks.
Hope to see you on the road!— Dan
